80% of Hill Tribe Children
can’t afford to go to school
Hill tribe people face a higher degree of poverty than other groups in Thailand. When it comes to education, children are given little to no extra support with the costs of transportation, schooling and materials & unfortunately for many, that means they have no choice but to stay home.
Wat Don Chan Temple is the only sanctuary for many of these children. Acting as a temple, school, and orphanage, it’s home to 700+ abandoned and underprivileged children in the Chiang Mai region of northern Thailand.
The monks, with support from donors, care for the children and provide meals, clothing, shelter. But when the children graduate high school, they’re faced with a decision: become a monk, or go out into the world and enter the workforce.
Many of these children are orphans and have no-one to support them in continuing to higher education. Stu and The Kids is trying to change all that.
